Need Help Getting Started With eBay Selling?

Have you started selling on eBay yet? Maybe you’ve thought about it, but couldn’t decide what to sell? Or maybe you just find it all a bit confusing, I know I did when I first started out. So in today’s post I’m going to give you some pointers that might be of help to you.

1. The first thing you’ll need to do is create an account on eBay, it’s a simple enough process, but if you have any difficulties just comment on this post & I’ll be happy to help. You must also create a PayPal account, see the Selling Resources link in step 3 for details.

2. Once you’ve got your account you’re going to need to build up some feedback. Now you could start selling right away, but the eBay system is built around feedback, & the buyers rely on this feedback to decide if they can trust the seller. So if you want to make sale you’ll have a better chance of doing so with a feedback score of at least 20.

The best way to do this is by buying cheap items, preferably item’s that will be of use to you. You’ll find that eBooks are some of the cheapest items for sale, most of them ready to purchase right away without bidding, & if you want to build some feedback fast, then items ‘Buy It Now’ is what you should be looking for. You’ll also want to look for eBooks with resale rights, just like the book I gave you free yesterday, you can even sell that if you want.

3. After you’ve got your feedback up to 20+ you’ll be ready to start selling, but first I’d advise that you read through eBay’s Policies, or at least the bits that are relevant to selling. You should also find the Selling Resources page very helpful too.

4. After you’ve learnt what you can & can’t do you can use the Selling Resources page to giude you through the process of listing your first item. I would suggest that you start off selling information products, you’ll still need to post these though because ebay don’t allow you to sell downloads any more, they used to but that’s history now. Anyway if you do choose to sell info products you must hold the resale rights to any info/eBook that you sell, unless you’ve created the ebook yourself that is, if that is the case you automatically hold copyrights for something you have produced yourself.

5. Decide what type of listing you want, you can either sell it in auction format, or buy it now format. I would suggest making it a Buy Now listing, but if it’s your first time listing something for sale, then why not try both methods out & see which works best for you.

6. Decide how many days you want it to run for, & that’s pretty much all there is to it, all you have to do now is wait & see if it sells. If it doesn’t well you might need to do some research to see what sort of ebooks ARE selling, but we’ll talk about that next time ;)

That’s all for now, I’ll try & make a post tomorrow if I get time.

Paul.
