Ebay Selling Tips - May ‘09, Part 1
I’ve not given any selling tips for a while, so from now on I’m going to try & make a regular thing of it. Here is part 1 of my selling tips for May:
- Don’t limit your listings to the auction format, sure it’s cool to have some listings in auction format, but I have always found I get much better results & more sales selling in the ‘Buy Now’ format. Of course this depends on what you are selling, for instance, if you are just selling a one off item, & something that is second hand then the auction format would probably be best. But if you have a large volume of identical items to sell then listing the majority of them as ‘Buy now’, would in most cases be best in my opinion, it would also be cheaper too.
- If you are listing quite a lot of ‘Buy Now’ listings every week, you should consider opening an eBay shop. Opening an eBay shop will reduce your listing fees, & allow you to benefit from listing more items per ‘Buy Now’ listing, & you’ll also be able to run your listing for a lot longer period of time than with regular eBay listings.
- Use eBay’s free bulk listing tool, Turbo Lister, you can save your listings on your PC with this, & upload your listings in half the time.
- Always let potential buyers know that you are happy to answer any questions they might have about the item you are selling. When answering any questions do your best to answer in a polite & timely manner, if you leave them waiting for an answer for too long you could end up losing a sale.
- Remember to do market research on similar items to which you are selling, or to get ideas on what to sell, you can do all of this using eBay’s search function. Look at completed listings & see what type of items are doing well, when you find a seller that is making a lot of sales, scrutinise their listings, everything from the advert layout, listing title, colours used, font type used, did they use any enhancements like audio or video in their listing? All these seemingly small things can make all the difference to wether your listing will convert well or not.
That’s all for May part 1 selling tips, look out for more soon…
