Market Research on eBay

Hi,

On my last post I said I would tell you about how you could find out what’s selling on eBay. In fact using this method you can also find out what is not selling too, so you’re probably now thinking how can I do this.

It’s very simple really, when you run a search on ebay you should notice a menu with more option on the left side of the screen. All you need to do is type in the key words you want to research, then scroll down the screen until you see an option appear on the left for ‘Completed Listings’. Now simply click on that & the page will reload with completed listings only.

Now as you go through the completed listings search results you will notice that some prices are in red, & some are green. All the amounts in green are the items that have sold, the red amounts didn’t sell.

So from that you can get a good idea of what is selling & what isn’t, all you need to do then is find an item which seems to be selling quite well, then find a similar item that you can sell so that you can hopefully duplicate the success that other sellers are having with that sort of item.

But there is also another way to find out what items are currently HOT, ebay have a feature called eBay Pulse. It basically tells you what the most searched for terms are on ebay, & what the most watched items are too. This is obviously great news for sellers, so make sure you check it out regularly & take full advantage of it. ;)

Another ebay feature you might want to check out is The Popular Item’s on eBay link. The clue is in the title for this one, it shows you some of the most popular item’s listed on ebay at the current time.

One more ebay feature a seller can use to their advantage is the Want It Now feature, this is where buyers can make requests to sellers stating what they are looking to buy. Sellers can respond to the listed requests to let the buyer who requested that they have listed what they are looking for. You can also use the info found here to decide wether less popular items are worth listing, especially if you didn’t have much luck searching the completed listings. It would also be a good idea to check it out if you are clearing your house out of things you no longer use, there might be someone out there looking for some of things you no longer want.

So as a seller on ebay you can see there is plenty of potential for you to find out what is in demand, all you need to do is take action, make a few searches & have a little patience, & you should start to see some good results for your efforts.

Thanks for reading, I hope this info helps you with your selling endeavours.

Paul.

PS.

You’ll find the links to ebay in my posts are for ebay.co.uk, this is the site I operate on by default, but it should be too difficult to find the links for you countries ebay site. However if you have trouble finding them let me know & I’ll see if I can help.
